Support Engineer

Candidates general requirements:

Citizenship: Kazakhstan citizenship

Education: Higher professional technical education with a strong emphasis in Computer Science, IT, Information Systems Engineering or relevant discipline is required.

Work experience: at least 4 years of experience within IT sphere.

Business knowledge: Have a good understanding of core business processes and operations of the oil and gas industry. 

Technical knowledge: Have advanced ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue. Understand IT principles, server hardware, Operating Systems, office automation productivity tools and troubleshooting techniques.  Begin to familiar with a wider aspects of Infrastructure landscape including server technologies and tools through practical assignments.

Communication: Communicate advanced technical and business process both orally and written format.

Language literacy: English level – upper-Intermediate or higher.

Candidate’s technical skills expectations:

  • Advanced practical knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2008, 2012, 2016 opertaing systems;

  • Advanced practical knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP & WINS services.

  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio);

  • Good practical knowledge of Microsoft PowerShell. Ability to write technical scenarios;

  • Good knowledge of Network management including DMZ and TCP/IP protocols,

  • Understanding of Cloud technololgy.

 

Brief Job Description:

The position is responsible to carry out the following operational duties:

  • Install servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.

  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.

  • Research and recommend  innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify opportunities for further leveraging with corporate resources, tools and best practices.

  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.

  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities according to corportate standard.

  • Operational activities (tickets resolving, routine tasks, change management);

  • 2nd and 3rd level of troubleshooting;

  • Server commissioning/decommissioning;

  • Active Directory & DNS, DHCP, WINS services;

  • Assets inventory;

  • Print server administration;

  • Creation and support of internal IT Infrastructure  processes and procedures;

  • Information Protection and Risk Management compliance for Windows-based servers.

  • Follow IT, Corporate IP and safety policies.
